Publishing / How-to

Run a small docs-as-code workflow

Move a documentation change through version control, review, and publication.

The basic loop

Store documentation source in version control. Propose a change on a branch, review it, run useful checks, and publish the approved result. The objective is a traceable change process that fits how the team works.

Start small

Choose one guide and one reviewer. Record the reason for the change. Edit the source, inspect a rendered preview, and ask the reviewer to check both accuracy and usability. Merge only after the required checks and review have passed.

Assign responsibility

Name a content owner and a technical reviewer. Make it clear who can approve factual changes and who can publish. GitHub and GitLab expose their own content and contribution practices; use them as examples when designing a smaller local process.

Add automation deliberately

Begin with a build check, broken-link check, and a few reliable style checks. Add sample execution when it is safe and reproducible. Avoid introducing so many noisy checks that reviewers stop trusting the results.
